Thorin Oakenshield is a key character within the Dwarfs of Middle Earth lore, prominently featured in J.R.R. Tolkien's *The Hobbit*. His first appearance is in the book itself.
He is a proud and somewhat stubborn Dwarf, the son of Thráin II and grandson of Thrór, the King under the Mountain. Thorin holds a deep-seated desire to reclaim his ancestral home, Erebor, which was seized by the dragon Smaug.
Driven by this goal, Thorin embarks on a quest with a company of twelve other Dwarves and the hobbit Bilbo Baggins.
